Welcome to conveni TOKYO, a delightful Japanese grocery store nestled in the heart of London at 25 Heritage Ave, NW9 5JE. This charming spot brings a piece of Japan to the UK, catering not only to those who miss the taste of authentic Japanese products but also to locals eager to explore unique culinary offerings that go beyond the ordinary.

At conveni TOKYO, every visit feels like opening a treasure chest of flavors and experiences. This cozy store is reminiscent of a traditional kombini (convenience store) in Japan, showcasing a tantalizing array of East Asian goods, from beloved snacks to essential cooking ingredients. As you step inside, you're greeted by the vibrant colors of packaged foods and inviting scents wafting from their selection of hot takeaway items. Customers rave about specific highlights, such as the delightful pork gyozas and salmon teriyaki bento boxes, offered at reasonable prices—making it a go-to spot for a quick yet satisfying meal.

The fresh sushi selection is another standout, with options like the eel special and salmon avocado roll made to order. As Rebecca Birrell mentions in her review, the friendly and welcoming atmosphere truly enhances your shopping experience; you can count on being greeted warmly and even offered freshly prepared dishes upon request. Imagine indulging in a steaming hot bao or enjoying the sweet, rich flavors of a favorite snack—each bite inviting you to savor the essence of Japanese cuisine.

However, it’s not all perfect; some customers have noted that the store can feel a bit cramped, and there are concerns regarding hygiene, particularly with uncovered soup displays. These factors can deter some from fully enjoying what this gem has to offer. Nevertheless, with positive feedback regarding prices and the quality of service, many find the small inconveniences worth enduring for the unique products available.

Whether you're stocking up on dried goods like rice or simply seeking a taste of home with something like Pei Pa Koa syrup, conveni TOKYO is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. It's more than just a grocery store—it's a small slice of Japan that invites you to explore, experience, and enjoy. Come and see for yourself why customers like Nicole Chu express their delight at finding this haven in the city, and perhaps you’ll walk away with a few stories of your own.

This Oriental food store offers a wide range of unique foods and drinks, including a lovely selection of hot takeaway items. The bao in particular is a standout, fresh and delicious. However, I would say the store is on the expensive side and can feel quite cramped due to the limited space. One concern I have is with hygiene—some of the soups are displayed without covers, which I find off-putting. That said, the store does have a quirky and interesting variety of Oriental foods that you don’t often find elsewhere. Worth a visit, but there’s room for improvement.

Its great for locals and basics. Has small selection of hot food and sushi such as salmon teriyaki bento boxes (£6.50), chicken curry and rice (not katsu), pork gyozas, some fresh sushi made to order e.g. eel special, salmon avocado roll etc. Prices are very reasonable. Service is always good and welcoming. Min £5 on card.

What an amazing store! This shop is definitely a hidden gem. I stopped in on my way home today to grab some dinner. It was my first time in the shop and I was blown away. I'm not sure I've ever felt so welcome in a shop before. I was greeted when I arrived and while I was browsing at the sushi someone arrived to let me know that if I wanted I could have something made up fresh off the menu. I just grabbed one of the premade rolls because they all looked delicious, and I was not disappointed! Fresh and flavorful! Not to mention reasonably priced as well! As for the rest of the shop, it is absolutely immaculately clean and tidy. I will definitely be a regular customer from now on! Many thanks to the lovely staff working today who made it such a great experience!

I’ve missed Japan ever since I moved away, so finding Japanese goods overseas is always a nice surprise. This place is reminiscent of a Japanese kombini, though selling a variety of East Asian foodstuffs (I was surprised to see Pei Pa Koa, a syrup to soothe coughs and sore throats!). The store mainly sells snacks, sauces, drinks and dried goods—bags of rice included. There is a small section selling daikon, spring onions and tofu. As well, sushi takeaway is available, along with oden! Towards the back, you can find a small selection of dish ware and bentō, which can make nice gifts. The freezers contain a variety of interesting things, but what we noticed was the packages of thinly sliced meat, which is ideal for a lot of Japanese meat dishes like nikujaga (it’s not the same with chunks of beef). I wasn’t able to find some things I was looking for, like barley tea, but I understand that they can’t stock everything. Also, I felt that some items were a bit pricey, but that’s to be expected when buying imported goods. Other than that, it was fun browsing the store. The staff was also friendly. If I lived closer, I’d go back more often.
